The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
