The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
