The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
