The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
