The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens with constellations, 1 By the Promised Day! 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Cursed were the people of the ditch (the story of the Boy and the King). 4 Of the fire (kept burning) with fuel, 5 When they sat by it, 6 to watch what they were doing to the believers, 7 The only reason for which they tormented the believers was the latter's belief in God, the Majestic, and Praiseworthy. 8 God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. 9 Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning. 10 Surely for those who believe and do the right are gardens with rivers running by. That is the greatest success. 11 Surely the might of your Lord is great. 12 Verily, He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment in the Hereafter) (or originates the creation of everything, and then repeats it on the Day of Resurrection). 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 Owner of the throne, the Glorious 15 and the Most Effective in His decision. 16 Has the story reached you of the hosts, 17 the armies of Pharaoh and Thamud? 18 Yet the unbelievers still belie, 19 However, God encompassed their activities. 20 Indeed, this is a Glorious Koran, 21 in a guarded tablet. 22
