The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky containing great stars 1 and [then bethink thyself of] the promised Day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 That accursed are the men of the trench 4 Of the fuel-fed fire, 5 Behold! they sat over against the (fire), 6 and they were witnesses of what they did to the believers 7 And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, Worthy of all Praise!- 8 God to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and God is Witness over everything. 9 Surely those who tormented the believing men and the believing women and then did not repent, theirs shall be the chastisement of Hell, and theirs shall be the chastisement of burning. 10 Verily those who believed and worked righteous works, theirs shall be Gardens whereunder the rivers flow; that is the supreme achievement. 11 Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord. 12 Indeed it is He Who initiates and redoes. 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, 14 Master of the Honourable Throne. 15 Effecter of what He intends. 16 Has the story of the armies reached you, 17 Of the Fir'awn and the Thamud? 18 Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial 19 and God is behind them, encompassing. 20 Indeed, this is a Glorious Koran, 21 On a guarded tablet. 22
