The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 it is not a jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
