The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
