The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
