The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
