The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
