The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
