The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
