The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 The piercing star! 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 and I am devising guile. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
