The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
