The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising guile, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
