Al-Taareq
The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
