The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
