The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and so am I: 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
