The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
