The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
