The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
