The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created of spurting water 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
