The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
