Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And chosen goblets. 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
