Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
