Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
