Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets set, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
