Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
