Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
