Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
