Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 and raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
