Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
