Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
