Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
