Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
