Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
