Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
