Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
