Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
