Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
