Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
