Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
