Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
