Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
