Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
