Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
