Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
