Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
