Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
